The alliance screen backdrop from Universe 42

The word alliance has two definitions in OGame.

In most cases, it means an official alliance of players using the in-game feature. However, it can also mean an alliance between two or more of those in-game alliances.

Alliance of players[edit | edit source]

Other Languages

These are groups of players who band together under a single banner or Tag as it is called in OGame. They work with each other to improve their gaming experience. This can be either through Trade, War, or Diplomacy. It is also common for experienced players to provide training and guidance to newer members of the license. In same cases, new lower ranked players are provided with aid in the form of resources, to help them gain rank quickly. Alliance members also often help one another with moonshots.

The Founder is the manager of the alliance in-game. Founders have all rights in the alliance and cannot be kicked out of the alliance. To transfer founder status, the Right Hand right is needed by the new manager. In most cases, the founder is the leader of the alliance. However, this is not true in all cases. Some alliances have an elected leader, or a leadership group. In these cases the founder may just care for the technical administration of the alliance but not lead the members.

Some alliances have their own forums, separate from the official Forum in which they communicate with each other, posting trade requests or Espionage Reports. This allows the sharing of knowledge and details kept confidential to the alliance. Some long-standing alliances also have guides and strategies developed over many years which they share with their alliance in their forums.

Alliances may also communicate using Discord, IRC, or the in-game alliance chat and circulars.

A tag is a short-hand version of an alliance name. It is usually enclosed within square brackets []. Users can use this tag on the official forums to indicate to people outside the alliance that they are a member of said alliance. The tag is also used on the statistics page.

It is generally desirable to be in an alliance in order to receive support from others. Some also feel that this adds a comradery and extra element to gameplay which makes the game more fun. One downside to alliances are "wars" that can be declared on your alliance; this removes the bashing rules and allows you to be attacked as often as the other alliance wants.

Between two Alliances[edit | edit source]

Other Languages

When applied between alliances as described above, an alliance refers to the cooperation, or diplomacy, of two or more alliances. Such agreements may include Trade Agreements, military support or other supporting actions.

There is no limit to the number of allies an alliance can have.

Also, note that an alliance is very different from an NAP (Non Aggression Pact).

Between two or more players[edit | edit source]

Players do not need to be in an Alliance to able to ACS Defend or Attack with each other; they only need to be Buddies. So two or more players can informally form an alliance or cooperate without making it official in-game.
